At the dress to kill party during the C2-MTL.
My first own ‘fashion’ shot.

Compton Drive-In - Hiroshi Sugimoto.
I’m a habitual self-interlocutor. Around the time I started photographing at the Natural History Museum, one evening I had a near-hallucinatory vision. The question-and-answer session that led up to this vision went something like this: Suppose you shoot a whole movie in a single frame? And the answer: You get a shining screen. Immediately I sprang into action, experimenting toward realizing this vision. Dressed up as a tourist, I walked into a cheap cinema in the East Village with a large-format camera. As soon as the movie started, I fixed the shutter at a wide-open aperture, and two hours later when the movie finished, I clicked the shutter closed. That evening, I developed the film, and the vision exploded behind my eyes.

Japan editorial on SSENSE.
Can’t be much happier with SSENSE right now, they have been going japan heavy in the last two years and when it’s a company from your own city, that’s even greater! Very cool edito featuring White Mountaineering, Undercover and SASQUATChfabrix, three brands I love.
White Mountaineering is a bit more younger. It’s designed by Yozuke Aisawa and if you’re interested in Japan clothing, you might be able to guess that this guy was no other than Junya’s assistant. The influence is right there and we can only be happy about it. He’s pretty much a techno couture designer as well. His collections are heavily themed around a center point and the prints each seasons are amazing, while using crazy fabrics.
Undercover is designed by Jun Takahashi, the legendary punk designer. For more than 20 years he’s been exploring crazy mixes of tailoring and punk themed collection.
SASQUATCHfabrix is also recent and lesser known. It’s led by a collective and they are doing a great job at going into new directions. Importance to details and quality of fabrics are their main motto. It’s pretty insane, that’s why it’s good.
I’m going to Japan in October. You can be sure I’ll bring back some of this stuff, among many other crazy brands. And pictures.

Daido Moriyama - Stray dog.
“There is a mighty power in photography. And especially overwhelming in its expressiveness. I love to observe the people in cities, in which an uncanny scent floats. I love to burrow in mysterious lanes. To detect the unusual scent guided by my own sense of smell.
